Mays Technical in Summer 2022 A longside C J Grey delivered a 50,000m3 de silt of a lake with active stream flow for a private client.
This was undertaken as a semi dry de slit by design, cutting a channel in the silt to divert the water though the deepest part of the lake allowing the remaining areas of silt to be removed in the most efficient process.
By cutting the channel and maintaining the natural flow of the stream this allowed us to not need to constantly over pump, saving on costs and reducing the carbon footprint of the job.
The Silt was excavated with amphibious excavators working alongside a long reach excavator.
By using the amphibious excavators this meant that we were able to excavate areas as they dried out allowing us to reduce the amount of excess water hauled to the storage area, increasing productivity.
The long reach was used to to load out the silt into a specially adapted ATD with floatation tires and adapted silt skips with doors meaning a clean passage from lake side to the dump site.
The dump site was a bunded storage area that we created onsite to de water and store the silt in readiness to be used for landscaping the following summer.
